Software for Office or Home Machines

GTRC/OSP’s IT group has in the past, and will continue to, install all necessary software on your GTRC or OSP owned personal computer.  But what about faculty and staff owned machines?

GT’s Office of Information Technology has many software titles available for faculty and staff to use for work related purposes on their own personally owned computers through its site licensing arrangements with Microsoft and other vendors.  These may be identified and downloaded at:

http://software.oit.gatech.edu/

Be prepared to identify yourself with your campus-wide user ID and password.  Again, this software may only be installed on a non-GT or GTRC owned PC for work related purposes and, with some restrictions, some titles are also available for student use.

That’s great, you may say, but what if you would like to purchase software for you and your family’s personal use?

For those of you who are interested in purchasing your own licenses of Microsoft Office, Windows 7, and many others for personal use, at educational discounts, there is now a web site you can go to as well:

http://gatech.e-academy.com

Check it out!  As with the OIT software download page, the purchasing process here will also require you to identify yourself as a member of the Georgia Tech community through the use of your campus-wide user ID and password.

As a side note, don’t forget that the GT Barnes and Noble Bookstore carries many software titles at educational discounts as well.
